After 6 months of rumours, on Wednesday, one of the biggest cryptocurrency exchange platforms entered the NFT world - Coinbase.
From now on the beta platform is available, providing curated NFT collections (Azuki, World of Women, Doodles...) on the Ethereum blockchain. With more blockchains coming soon. So far the platform claims no transaction fees, to ease the entry for newbies. Yes, many โmainโ functionalities that weโre used to from Opensea are still missing but according to the team they'll come soonish.

Firstly, the direct relation to Coinbase (might) be a chance to get total newbies into the NFT space, as they see it all in one platform (4 mio. people have joined the waitlist). And Mastercard payments will be available soonish.
Secondly, Coinbase aims to build a โweb3 social marketplaceโ allowing users to sell, buy and engage with creators, collectors and the community around the NFTs. Making it more like a mix of OpenSea and Instagram, allowing a totally new way of interaction with NFTs.
๐ But let's see if Coinbase is really going to succeed - other projects will launch soonish: Samsungs NFT platform, Gamestops gaming focused NFT platform,... & OpenSea
is quite strong, weโll see who can win the NFT hearts ๐
